Our primary goal at Novaforesta is to produce barbet puppies with good health and temperament. Therefore this plays a major part in the decision of which males to select for breeding with either of our females. The desire to maintain as wide a genetic pool as possible means that not all litters or indeed littermates will be identical to each other. We see this as a positive sign and appreciate that every barbet should be as unique as its owner.
All Novaforesta puppies are born and raised in our home and along with their mother are closely monitored in the early weeks to ensure they get the best start in life. Growing in a busy household gives them a wide experience of normal sights and smells and they are used to being handled from early on.
The puppies are all weaned onto the BARF (bones and raw food) diet which is what all our adult dogs are fed, and are also introduced to a variety of other appropriate foods to help them develope a healthy digestive system and prevent them becoming fussy eaters. The puppies have access to their mothers milk for as long as they or she wishes to continue.
All our barbet puppies are microchipped, have DNA I.D records, and are vaccinated. At present they are officially registered with the S.C.C.(French Kennel Club) and are also entered onto the K.C Activity register in the UK.
If you are interested in owning a barbet, you will be expected to meet me and my adult dogs possibly even before a mating has taken place. I will not be breeding just to meet demand. For details on future planned litters please visit the News page.
